Cape Sable Cottages- Seaside Retreats

Cape Sable Cottages offers the discerning traveller a retreat from the busyness of everyday life. Our private 10 acre peninsula becomes yours for the duration of your stay ... explore over 5000' of ocean shoreline, paddle to one of our five coastal islands, watch the seals play, do some birdwatching from your deck or be more adventuresome and trek the birdwatchers walks looking for strays and rare sightings. Soak in the Islands history- we were named by Samuel de Champlain in 1604, so our genealogical and marine histories are extensive. Come and Enjoy our 'down-home' Nova Scotia hospitality.

Each cottage has 600 square feet of living space. Large, ocean facing windows and patio doors opens your view to the sea. Built new in 2001 the cottages are designed with your comfort and needs in mind. All floors are wood (laminate) no rugs to worry about for allergy sufferers. The cottages all have fully equipped kitchens with built in dishwasher, Full size fridge, stove, range hood, all dishes, pots & pans, utensils, linens and accessories. Eat-in style kitchen opens into ocean facing living room complete with chairs, sofa bed, satellite TV and VCR (DVD player available), lots of reading materials and games. Off the living room /kitchen area are the two bedrooms- each bedroom has large patio doors- plenty of sunlight. One bedroom opens out onto the seaside patio deck. Each bedroom has built in closets, bureaus, night tables, full length mirrors, clock radio, lamps and ceiling light with fan, heavy drapes for late sleepers, comfy beds (queen & 2twins/ double & 2 twins/ Double & double arrangements). The bathrooms are full 4 piece- sink, toilet, tub and shower. All your linens are supplied daily- big bath sheets, bath towels, hand towels, face cloths, etc... as are all the supplies- soap, shampoo and lotion, tissue and kleenex. Each cottage has a 'flavor'- try our always popular Nautical cottages- Schooner Lodge or Sable Bay, or maybe a little romance in one of our 2 Victorian cottages- Victoria's Garden Cottage has an English garden feeling, while the Gooseberry Cottage, done in Victorian parlour sets and 150 year old wood mouldings and chair rails seems to always be popular for the "romantics" amongst us. For those who prefer a more casual approach- we suggest our ever comfortable Cranberry Cottage in the country style- Try out the large Morris style chair, enjoy the folk art/ tole art decor and as always enjoy the scenery and the peace and quiet of Cape Sable Cottages.

Cape Sable Cottages are built on a private, secluded 10 acre peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean- giving us open ocean frontage AND a quiet inlet- perfect for kayaking and canoeing and such. The cottages are all built right along the shoreline- 25' from the highwater level, so each has a fantastic unobstructed view of the water. The cottages are well spaced so each family have their own space and privacy. You'll enjoy your own outside firepit, picnic table, full size propane BBQ and deck furniture. Here on Long Point (the peninsula we own) you can explore over 5000' of shoreline, paddle off to one of our coastal islands, or just enjoy the chairs and benches situated along the paths. There is ocean swimming (natural shoreline- grass, gravel, rocks and mud) or you can drive to one of our 5 island white sand beaches only 10 minutes away. We also have Bocci, horseshoes, football, croquet, bikes, and boats to enjoy.

In the immediate area you'll enjoy our numerous white sand beaches, provincial parks, many museums and historical sites- even a UFO landing sight (well documented) and much more. Arrange for a boat or fishing tour, or visit Seal Island- home to many shipwrecks and a thriving fishing outpost - a 2 hour boat trip. There are no theme parks, large malls or our 'touristy' type attractions nearby (1 hour+).
