SPECIAL FEATURES

Kawagama Lake is the largest lake in Haliburton; it stretches for 18 km in length and is bordered by 104 km of beautiful shoreline. One third of its shoreline is pristine unpopulated crown land, with its waters known as one of the cleanest in Ontario. Located in the Haliburton Highlands, south of Algonquin Provincial Park, this lake is just 8 km east of the town of Dorset. There are plenty of beautiful islands, bays, and inlets, with scenic canoe routes that follow into surrounding lakes, such as picturesque Bear Lake & secluded Kimball Lake. Kawagama has earned a fine reputation for fishing, especially for lake trout and bass. During peak season, water temperatures at the dock hover around 74° to 76°, perfect for swimming. Kawagama Lake is very clear with no weeds or zebra mussels, and has a maximum depth of 240 feet. The area is reminiscent of the Muskoka lakes 40 yrs ago; quiet, clean and a place where you can wake up to the call of the Loon! The Lake is extremely peaceful during the week, a little busier on summer weekends, but is not densely populated, the way we like it best!

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION

The cottage has a newly renovated kitchen that is fully equipped with dishes, cutlery, glasses, pots, and pans. In 2008 we have renovated the loft, new full height roof, 6 windows, and pine throughout. Up in the sleeping loft, there are two beds, a queen size and a single. Down in the living room there is a double pull out sofa bed.

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION

Cottage is within 25 feet of the shoreline, and is on a large well-treed lot (100' frontage x 260' deep). The location of the cottage is private, surrounded with large trees and is 100' away from neighboring cottages. Experience both a warm golden sunrise, and colorful sunset down on the large dock (8'x 24'). New cottage deck (2005) with table, chairs, and umbrella. 2008 - full wrap around deck. New separate enclosed hot/cold shower & change room located on cottage deck. Fire pit, and wood.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY

Outdoor activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking trails. Algonquin Provincial Park, Dorset scenic lookout tower. Muskoka Heritage Place, Dorset family golf center. Enjoy the awesome surroundings on Kawagama Lake in a 15' 6" canoe or 12' row boat.

RATE INFORMATION

$950/week(7 Nights): July 1st to Labor Day. $665/week($95/Night): Spring and Fall. $200 deposit is required for a reservation. COTTAGE AVAILABLE FROM JUNE TO OCTOBER.
