In our very rural area near the village of Ompah with our waterfront on Palmerston Lake in The Land O' Lakes region of Eastern Ontario, we offer WI- FI(for email and light web browsing)and SATELLITE TV in 700 sq.ft. of pet/smoke free, cozy and clean cottage accommodation. The Pioneer Cottage is situated at the east end of Palmerston Lake on a 1 km long dead end private laneway and is surrounded by mature maple and cedar trees. This clean and very well maintained and equipped waterfront 3 bedroom cottage boasts a lovely, grassy front yard which borders the lake, weedfree, sandy swimming area, great boating with Bass and Lake Trout fishing and a wonderful view of the sunset each evening. There are no resorts or multi unit rentals in the area therefore lake traffic and noise is minimal. Friendly hosts available on site for help and information. Open year round and very close to nearby OFSC snowmobile and EOTA ATV trails on Crown land. Experience a closeness with nature; get away from every day life and enjoy the outdoors at our cottage property on Palmerston Lake.

The Pioneer Cottage has a traditional cottage feel to it yet is equipped with modern day conveniences and includes many extra interior features making it a home away from home. New carpet and vinyl flooring as of December 2012 throughout allows for easy maintenance. Quality furnishings and a well stocked kitchen area make your meal preparation easy and vacation experience a memorable one. Included are: -SATELLITE T.V. with VCR/DVD combo, -telephone,(phone card is needed for long distance calls)No Cell phone service in the area. -WI-FI for checking email and light web browsing, -3 small bedrooms, perfect for a small family or 3 couples, sleeping up to 6 including a queen bed, bunk beds with single over double, and double sofa bed in a small third room(ideal room for setting up a playpen for infants and toddlers). Blankets and pillows are provided-please bring your own sheets, pillow cases and shower/swimming towels. While the cottage is plumbed with water from our pristine lake, we recommend you bring your own drinking water. -High chair, booster seat and playpen are available, please reserve ahead of time. -Enjoy a 3 piece bathroom with vanity, mirror and upgraded shower stall with H/C water; closets/dressers and spacious cupboards for clothes and food storage. -All windows are operational and screened,inside access via patio door to screened-in 18 X 10 porch. -Includes cleansers, broom, vacuum and recycling bins.

The Pioneer cottage has new exterior vinyl siding as of June 2011,new carpet and vinyl flooring as of December 2012,is nicely landscaped and just a few steps to the sandy, fairly shallow, weedfree waterfront allowing for abundant outdoor activities. A lovely 18X10 furnished, screened porch facing the lake provides extra living space as well as "bug free" evenings. Childrens activities can be safely monitored from this porch while they play on the front lawn; a sandbox with sandtoys is also provided. Outdoor lawn furniture includes a hexagonal picnic table,6 lawn chairs and an end table, and a propane BBQ along side a second picnic table on a shaded patio stoned patio area. Laundry area(W/D)in an exterior room attached to the main house is available during Spring to Fall months. An umbrella clothesline for hanging wet bathing suits and towels is beside the cottage. A boat port for the safe, dry storage of your own boat is included. Children and adults alike enjoy swimming to and diving from the floating raft. The complimentary exclusive use of a canoe and rowboat and a shared pedal boat (you are welcome to bring your own motor) gives you the opportunity to experience what Palmerston Lake and it's surroundings has to offer. It is a beautiful,spring fed 5 km long lake with Lake Trout and Bass fishing.Be sure to check fishing regulations in this area.

Numerous other small fishing lakes in the area with good public road access including Granite, The Quinns, Summit, Crotch, Mosque as well as the lovely adjoining Canonto Lake, also with public access. As the cottage is located in District 1 of the OFSC snowmobile trail system and the EOTA ATV trail system, we welcome Winter enthusiasts who enjoy activities such as ATV'ing, X-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing. Parking is plentiful for trucks and off road vehicle trailers. A very helpful and friendly Sports/Marina is close by offering area and fishing information, boat rentals, convenience items, chip wagon in the Summer, tackle, bait and licenses, ice cream,visit them at: www.double-s.ca for more info. Family restaurant, grocery store, minigolf, gas and propane in the next village of Plevna (15 minute drive). Some walking trails, little traffic, beautiful sunsets create a lazy environment. Many golf courses within a one hour drive. Spring/Fall ATV Wilderness Adventure Runs and Annual Bass Fishing Derby are a wonderful way to explore an abundance of crown land lakes and trails and our own Palmerston Lake.
