The Pioneer Cottage

Situated at the quieter east end of Palmerston Lake on a 1 km long dead end private laneway and surrounded by many trees, this clean and very well maintained and equipped semi-private waterfront cottage boasts a lovely, grassy front yard which borders the lake, awesome weedless swimming, great boating with bass and lake trout fishing and a wonderful view of the sunset each evening. All other cottages along this laneway are privately owned and used mostly during the Summer and Fall months only. There are no resorts or multi unit rentals in the area therefore lake traffic and noise is minimal. Friendly hosts available on site for help and information

With a rustic appeal yet with modern day conveniences, there are many extra interior features in The Pioneer cottage making it a home away from home. Carpet and vinyl flooring throughout make for easy maintenance. Quality furnishings and a well stocked kitchen area make your meal preparation easy and vacation experience a memorable one. Satellite T.V. with VCR/DVD combo, also telephone with long distance conditions attached is complimentary. WIRELESS INTERNET CAPABILITY, Two+(2+) bedrooms, perfect for a small family or couples, sleeping up to 6 including a queen bed, bunk beds with double on the bottom and single on the top, and double sofa bed. Blankets and pillows are provided but please bring your own linen and shower/swimming towels. While the cottage is plumbed with water from our pristine lake, we encourage you to bring your own drinking water. We can provide well water from our other cottage upon request. Toddler and infant furniture is available. 3 piece bathroom with vanity and upgraded shower stall,H/C water. Closet and cupboard space is abundant. All windows and doors are screened and can be opened offering a breeze from the lake.Laundry area(W/D)and umbrella clothesline available for our guests to use. This is a pet free, smoke free cottage. No cell phone service.

Being nicely landscaped and just a few steps to the sandy, fairly shallow, weedfree waterfront, outdoor activities are abundant.A lovely 18X10 furnished, screened porch facing the lake provides extra living space as well as "bug free" evenings. Childrens activities can be safely monitored from this porch while they play on a fairly level grassed yard, a sandbox with sandtoys is provided. Outdoor lawn furniture includes a hexagonal picnic table with umbrella, 6 lawn chairs and an end table and a propane BBQ along side a second picnic table.A boat lift for the safe, dry storage of your own boat is included. Children and adults alike enjoy swimming to and diving from the floating dock. The complimentary use of a canoe, pedal boat and rowboat gives you the opportunity to experience what Palmerston Lake and it's surroundings has to offer. It is a beautiful,spring fed 5 mile long lake with Lake Trout and Bass fishing.

Numerous other small fishing lakes in the area with good public road access including Granite, The Quinns, Summit, Crotch, Mosque as well as the lovely adjoining Canonto Lake, also with public access. As the cottage is located very close to groomed OFSC snowmobile and ATV trails, we welcome Winter enthusiasts who enjoy activities such as ATV'ing, X-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing beginning January 1st in this area. Parking is plentiful for trucks and off road vehicle trailers. A very helpful and friendly Sports/Marina is close by offering area and fishing information, boat rentals, convenience items, chip wagon in the Summer, tackle, bait and licenses, ice cream, visit www.double-s.ca for more info. Family restaurant, grocery store, minigolf, gas and propane in the next village of Plevna (15 minute drive). Plenty of walking trails, little traffic,lots of beautiful sunsets and tons of peace and quiet. Many golf courses within a one hour drive. Bi-annual ATV Poker Run and Annual Bass Fishing Derby are a wonderful way to introduce newcomers to the area.

$850.00 CDN weekly during July and August 2009. Deposit is required at time of reservation. Weekend rates from September through June as low as $100.00 nightly 1-4 persons,5-6 persons $125.00 per night up to 6 persons. Discounted weekly rates during off season.
